Geagea warns against inciting conflicts with Sunni’s in Lebanon

Lebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea urged the state on Thursday to put the Islamist detainees on trial as soon as possible and to find a solution for what he called a “humanitarian issue".

During his meeting with a delegation from Majdal Anjar, Geagea confirmed that the LF stance on the Arab revolutions stems from the party’s keenness on promoting freedoms and combating dictatorships and tyranny.

The LF leader added that if the Syrian rebels rise to power while “maintaining their abusive practices, we will be the first to stand against them.”

Geagea warned against inciting conflicts with the Sunni sect in Lebanon over its support of the Syrian revolution, saying “the Syrian regime and its supporters in Lebanon are trying to portray the Sunnite people as though they were terrorists, in an attempt to mislead the public opinion and divert attention away from the Syrian events.”
