Bassil: Wednesday's victory was for everyone but the road ahead of us is long

During a press conference, Energy Minister Gebran Bassil said that Lebanon took great strides when the cabinet adopted the electricity plan.

“Although Wednesday’s cabinet session was a victory for everyone, the road ahead of us is long”, Bassil said.

By adopting the electricity plan, the cabinet proved that it is keen on public investment, Bassil stressed.

“The cabinet did more than just adopt a plan that will boost electricity output by 700 megawatts; it has proven to be competent and professional”, Bassil added.

Bassil stressed the importance of removing all obstacles that will impede the implementation of the electricity plan, hoping that the bill will be adopted by a unanimous vote in Parliament.

Bassil urged the government to establish a committee in charge of managing the petroleum sector as soon as possible.
