Draft law to protect women does not protect them from violence

The parliamentary subcommittee charged with studying the draft law to protect women from domestic violence continues its work after one year since the draft has been transferred to it.

The representative of the Lebanese Forces in the subcommittee, MP Shant Jahanian declared his resignation ahead of the session on Tuesday.

The committee decided not to recognize the marital rape as a criminal act, and it did not as well facilitate the access to preventive measures of protection for abused women.
