Jamaa Islamiyaa: Rai’s statements incites sectarianism

Jamaa Islamiyaa said that the Maronite Patriarch Bshara Rai’s statements incite sectarianism and do not benefit anyone amid the ongoing turmoil in the region and threatens Lebanon’s security and stability.

Al Jamaa in a press release said “freedom of expression is a basic right to everyone but we didn’t expect such a stance from the Patriarch, especially the fact that he foresees that the inter-relations between different Lebanese sects and communities will be affected with the change of regime in Syria”.

They added, “This is historically incorrect; Lebanese families have lived united for a long time without being affected by external problems.” Al Jamaa Islamiyaa called on the Lebanese people to foster the Islamic-Christian dialogue isolated from the external pressures.
