Soldier released following his abduction from al-Ghobeiry

A soldier reported as belonging to the Assaf family was released Thursday after unknown assailants had kidnapped him late night Wednesday from the al-Ghobeiry area in Beirut. He was then allegedly transported to the region of Hourtaala in Baalbek. The assailants set him free but kept his car.

Security forces launched an investigation to disclose the circumstances of the incident.

Some sources said that the soldier had picked up the abductors to give them a paid ride to Hourtaala. On the other hand, Military sources confirmed to LBCI that he was not abducted, but that only his car was stolen.
