Al-Ahdab to LBCI: LAF to control widespread proxy arms

The vice-president of the Democratic Renewal Movement and former MP Misbah al-Ahdab said on Friday that the disassociation policy should stand for the LAF’s total control of widespread proxy arms. He added that solving the crisis in Tripoli will redress the security situation in Lebanon.                   

Commenting on the release of a number of Islamist detainees Ahdab called through an interview with Nharkom Said on LBCI, for the accountability of all offenders. He added that the file was not properly addressed, and may lead to further bitterness. “The file of the released Islamists is being used for political and electoral means by some Lebanese parties, but our grip on the safety and dignity of the LAF stands firm,” he added.            

He went on to call for a political umbrella for the LAF adding that all arms directed towards Israel should be under the command of the military institution. “The Lebanse Army’s role does not stop at observation  and should not come to resemble the role of the International Observers in Syria,” he concluded.
