Sweet shop owners face Assir

The sit-in of Sheikh Ahmad Assir, Imam of the Bilal Bin Rabah Mosque in Sidon, continued on Wednesday.

Arabic sweet shop owners protested on Wednesday against the ongoing sit-in of Sheikh Ahmad Assir, Imam of the Bilal Bin Rabah Mosque in Sidon.

The demonstrators staged their protest facing that of Assir’s, demanding that he meets with them in person to discuss the fiscal damage their businesses have sustained as a result of his actions.
Assir consequently refused the meeting and instead sent Sheikh Ahamd Hariri to speak on his behalf.

On the other hand, some Sidonians consider Assir’s claim for the removal of extra-state arms as “viable”, adding that “the issue of the arms is far greater than that of sweet shop businesses.” Assir’s sit-in has now entered its 7th day following his refusal to move the rally elsewhere.
