IMSI: a bone of contention between majority and opposition
The term “IMSI”, which stands for International Mobile Subscriber Identity, has been trending lately in Lebanon.

IMSI has been a bone of contention during recent discussions related to telecom data and debates between the authority and the opposition, especially since the attempted assassination of MP Boutros Harb.

An IMSI is a unique identification associated with mobile phone users and is usually presented as a 15 digit long number.

However, the danger in having access to the IMSI data lies in the fact that this identification enables the subscriber to easily eavesdrop on cell phones, reproduce the data, and introduce fake communications traffic data to the sim card.
