Introduction to the evening news 29-07-2012
Aleppo has not fallen…yet

That is the statement that sums up the second day, since the launch of the military onslaught by the Syrian Army against terrorist cells in the city. Information so far seems contradictory, on the one hand Syrian forces claim that victory will be theirs, citing FM Walid Moallem similar attitude voiced today from the Iranian capital Tehran.  Similarly, opposition forces also claim that they will defeat the Syrian Army, even going so far as to say that Aleppo will be the "graveyard of the regime forces military tanks".

The Aleppo confrontations seem to be taking the appearance of street clashes, whereby regime forces are in the midst of sieging the city, isolating it from the outside.

In Lebanon, the issue of the 11 Lebanese detainees took center stage once again, after LBCI was able to establish live phone contact with both the detainees and one of the kidnappers known as “Abu Ibrahim”.

More on Lebanon, the Sidon strike set for Monday has been canceled as Cabinet convenes to find solutions both for the issue of the EDL contract workers and the developing situation in Sidon.
