Spinneys’ syndicate promises to ensure workers’ rights

The constituent body of the Spinneys’ syndicate announced on Tuesday that its doors are now open to all workers wishing to register.

The body confirmed that it will press for the implementation of workplace laws and will prevent the Spinneys’ administration from "threatening and oppressing" the workers.

Member of the Syndicate, Mohmmad Zaatar, confirmed his confidence in the minister of labor to see to it that the workers’ freedoms be secured through the trade union.

The body pointed out in a statement that the administration failed to implement the decree related to wage adjustment, issued in December 2012, and has introduced unilateral modifications to the working conditions in term of productivity and working hours.

The body added that Spinneys has eventually implemented a new pay scale that does not take into account the legal increase.

“The company’s administration forced the workers, under the threat of dismissal, to sign the renunciation of their right in order to gain the increase in salary imposed by law", the body revealed.
