LBCI enters kidnappers’ stronghold in Syria

LBCI has entrusted the journalist Fidaa Itani with a special mission which is the search for the kidnappers and the 11 Lebanese hostages. The mission has not gone without troubles, in every trip an event and for every event a story.        

The first visit in the first of June lasted for seven days, during which Fidaa build connections with groups capable of helping him do the job.           

Twenty days later, Fidaa returned to Syria, and the visit “began to give its fruits”, as he met with the leader of the kidnapping group “Abou Ibrahim” in a place outside Azaz. The meeting lasted for 6 hours and resulted in an agreement between the two men concerning several matters, including allowing Fidaa to get a recording of the hostages.              

In this context, Itani told LBCI that Abou Ibrahim was very careful in dealing directly with the media and preferred not to send anything.              Fidaa’s third visit to Syria took another course, as the Syrian opposition was getting ready to overtake Aleppo; he witnessed the battles that took place between rebels and regime forces.                

In this regard, Itani noted that visiting Abou Ibrahim in Azaz was close to a suicide mission, this is why the rebels preferred that he stays with them in Aleppo and participate in covering the attacks to liberate the city.                 

In the 2nd of August, Fidaa went to Syria again and clearly told military officials in the opposition that his mission requires that he meets with Abou Ibrahim. The news that emerged about the escape of a number of hostages fastened this meeting.             

Amid conflicting reports, the interview conducted by Fidaa Itani with Ali Zougheib came to reveal the truth and reassure the families of the      hostages.                   

LBCI and Fidaa Itani achieved their goal and found the kidnappers and the hostages, but the others, what are they waiting for?
