Who can believe that Michel Samaha has been arrested? He already won all the titles and today he added the title of “the detained”.         Michel Samaha is Assad’s supporter in Lebanon; he may not be the first, but among the firsts.           

Farther than the arrest and the accusations, the questions are: why Michel Samaha? Why now?                

In a similar incident, the charge is no longer the main item, but what is beyond the charge: who abandoned him? Are they the Syrians? Or the French? Was it a process of tracking or information sent to an intelligence apparatus?                 

As for the investigation, the information made available to LBCI state that there are clear evidence and recordings that confirm the involvement of the former minister in the planning for security operations, alongside other people, one of them is from “Kfoury” family. The information add that Samaha transported explosives in his car from Syria to Lebanon, and that he received these explosives during his last visit to Damascus when he was in General Ali Mamlouk’s office. It was also reported that the explosives were to be detonated during Iftar banquets in north Lebanon.                  

Michel Samaha’s case won over that of Abu Ibrahim who slammed Lebanese politicians, calling on them to take a clear stance on the Syrian Regime.
