Sheikh Zgheib warns Qatar and Turkey of mutual "hospitality"

The relatives of the 11 Lebanese pilgrims in Syria staged a protest on Friday outside the Qatari embassy in Beirut.

A clash erupted at the start of the broadcast, between a reporter and a security member with the relatives intervening to contain the dispute. The relatives defended the freedom of the press, stating that the press is the only device delivering their voice to concerned parties.

In a statement to LBCI, the relatives blamed the Lebanese government for its ineffectiveness in bringing back their relatives.

The relatives also blamed Qatar and Turkey for stopping short of mediating the return of their beloved ones.

"Is this our reward,Qatar and Saudi Arabia, for fighting Israel?", they sternly asked.

"We tell Abu Ibrahim that we have a "dead government" which will never comply to his demands", they stressed.

In turn, Sheikh Zgheib tasked by the Shiite Supreme Council to follow up on the Lebanese pilgrims abducted in Aleppo, told LBCI that both Qatar and Turkey should work together to bring this situation to an end.

"Our message to both Qatar and Turkey; "we are also hospitable and can keep guests", Sheikh Zgheib said, adding that the Qatari petrodollars are funding the "so called Syrian opposition".

Sheikh Zgheib warned that "whoever came into Lebanon to offend their dignity came out defeated".

"Qatari's own lands in Lebanon are sufficient enough to feed a population, we can withdraw these lands at any time", he added.

One of the relatives denounced MP Okab Sakr's alleged $50 million embezzlement, adding that the money was supposed to be given to Abu Ibrahim.

The eleven Lebanese pilgrims were kidnapped on their way back from Iran by insurgents hoping to use them for a prisoner swap on the 20th of May.
