Sidon dump nightmare to end soon

Sidon Mayor Mohammad Saoudi said Sunday that work is underway to get rid of Sidon garbage dump in three phases, adding that when the mission is complete, the landfill area measuring 550 000m2 will become “one of the most beautiful regions”.

Saoudi told LBC that in three or four years the waste mound will be wiped off Sidon’s surface.

Sidon dump, which contains the waste of 16 municipalities, has become “well-known” for in winter, its waste invades neighboring countries.

Locally, the bad odors and diseases invade the houses of Sidon’s residents, who are overwhelmed with happiness to know that their nightmare is going to end.
