Sources from the financial meeting held in Baabda told LBCI that the discussions were positive and included serious decision as well as a clear willingness to take into consideration several initiatives in order to improve the financial and economic situations.
The sources noted that the main emphasis was on the importance of implementing the electricity plan, mainly in terms of ending waste and increasing production.
They added that there was a reassuring atmosphere concerning the reaction over the rating agencies’ measures. “If Lebanon received negative rating, it will not be affected considering that there’s capacity to face the issue; and in case the rating remains unchanged or improved, it will have a positive effect,” the sources explained.
The same sources told LBCI that the statement will be read by Prime Minister Saad Hariri and will include important decisions that will boost the Lebanese economy and public finances and will implement the 2019 and prepare for the 2020 budget draft law.
