Syrian refugees take Lebanese schools as refuge

Away from oppression in their country they ran careless to any property of any kind. They crossed the Syrian-Lebanese borders, taking refugee in various Lebanese schools. Classrooms became their houses and desks became their lunch tables.                 

But schools will soon be reopening, and the refugees are getting all the more anxious as the date draws near.                        

Some have started packing, oblivious to where they may head, but what's the fate of those who don't have money to rent houses?                      

The worst is not over yet, following their near death escapes, the refugees now have another ordeal to face- and that is preparing these schools to accommodate their needs come winter.          

In that context, the Minister of Social Affairs Wael Abou Faour, confirmed that the families that number up to 70 in the Bekaa, will be transferred to other public schools that are not used throughout the scholar year. "The issue is not a dilemma and it can be easily handled", he added.           

In a talk to LBCI, Abou Faour pointed out that there are various civil society institutions able to host the families, assuring that the necessary measures have been taken so that the academic year is not interrupted.            

For his part, the Minister of Education Hassan Diab emphasized to LBCI that the ministry sent a report to the Minister of Social Affairs, and it has been decided that schools will be made empty the 3rd of September.
