Aoun: The ministers’ prerogatives cannot be undermined

The Head of the Change and Reform bloc MP Michel Aoun portrayed the electricity problem as a never ending story, accusing Future bloc MPs, of making statements intended to sabotage the plan.

“By virtue of the constitution, the minister’s prerogatives cannot be undermined”, Aoun stressed, commenting on demands by the opposition for greater oversight on electricity plan.

Following the weekly meeting of his bloc in Rabieh, Aoun stressed that no compromises will be made over the electricity bill, adding that no one can undermine a plan that has won the consensus of all parties.

Speaking on Maronite Patriarch Beshara Rai, Aoun said: “Rai is entrusted with the Synod for Lebanon”, adding, “Rai’s remarks are based on his believes and fears. They were just an expression of the aspirations that he hopes will improve the Syrians’ life”.

On a different note, Aoun considered Friday’s UN General Assembly meeting that will be held in New York will put the US’ commitment to human rights to the test.
