Security measures in preparation for Pope’s visit
President Michel Sleiman tackled the current security situation in the country with Interior Minister Marwan Charbel on Monday. He also prevued the ministry's  administrative decentralization bill prior to its ensuing submission to Cabinet.             

Sleiman also met the Lebanese Ambassador to the Vatican, George Khoury, over the preparations for the visit of His Holiness, Pope Benedict XVI to Lebanon on Friday.               

In this regard, the Army Command – Orientation Directorate announced the suspension of weapon licenses in various Lebanese areas, and banned paragliding between the 7th and 17th of September above Jounieh and the surroundings of the Pope’s residence in the Apostolic Nunciature in Harissa.
