Will school fees increase with approval of pay scale?
Although the pay scale draft law has not yet been approved, the increase of the schools’ fees became inevitable. Just like the previous years, the only excuse for increasing the schools’ fees is the approval the pay scale draft law.

In this context, the head of the union of parents committees of Catholic schools in Keserwan, Joseph Bteich, told LBCI that, according to primary studies,” the cost of one student is one million LBP at least”, noting that around 40% of the parents have not yet paid the accumulated school fees. He predicted that this rate will reach 60 to 70%, adding that “they were, and they will always be against the pay scale since it will affect the parents”.

On the other hand, Nehme Mahfoud, head of the Private Schools Teachers Association declared that in case the pay scale was approved, the schools’ fees should not be increased, adding that the schools have been increasing their fees for three years “and blaming the pay scale”.

It is worth mentioning that PM Najib Mikati declared on Twitter that “there will be no increase on the fees”, stressing that this issue will be discussed with the related ministries, mainly the ministries of education and economy.
