Victims of another kind in Tripoli

In Tripoli, the conflict continues between sandstones and concrete stones, antique and aluminum windows, front yards and parking lots. Today, ancient Tripoli is threatened due to the collapse of its homes, heritage and ruins, mainly the Persians Palace or what's left of it. The same story applies to dozens of other homes.              

A real estate property owner in Tripoli said that property number 35 is neither classified as a ruin nor as a historical property. The owner pointed out that in the 1980s, a whole floor collapsed due to natural factors and landslides, adding that he submitted a request to the city’s municipality and governor to clean the rubble.                 

Meanwhile, the Head of the Archeology and. Culture Committee of Tripoli's Municipality Khaled Tadmori told LBCI that during the war, ancient regions, and neighborhoods did not face as much vandalism and destruction as they are today. He stressed that some are ruining archeological buildings, even those registered as ruins.                     T

here is nothing left of these memories, beautiful buildings, and ruins except for an issue of Al-Chabaka magazine. The Municipal Council made a step, and so did the minister of culture, but the demolition of buildings in Tripoli requires the approval of the above-mentioned committee.
