Security commanders participate in today's cabinet's session

Cabinet convened on Wednesday at the Baabda Palace. President Michel Sleiman presided the meeting.      

The cabinet's agenda included 47 items, among them the draft law of the 5 year program designed to finance the LAF budget. The program's fiscal plan reached $1.6 Billion, and will be used to assure all the necessary equipment and infrastructure to the Lebanese Army.        

The ministers also discussed a defense cooperation strategy between Lebanon and France.         

Security commanders participated in the cabinet's session, in which ways to fight the kidnapping wave were discussed. Sources told LBCI that the security apparatuses' leaders will convene tomorrow Thursday to discuss a plan to stop this wave.

A private meeting was held as well prior to the session between President Sleiman and PM Najib Mikati.          

For his part, Foreign Affairs Minister Adnan Mansour said before entering the cabinet's meeting that the electoral law endorsed by the cabinet faces a "formality issue" in the decree that allows its transfer to parliament. "The decree had to be signed by me," he added.         

In another context, Mansour announced that he urged the Arab foreign ministers to convene, expecting that the meeting will be held in New York on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly's agenda.
