Jumblatt calls for officials’ salary reduction by 50%
National Front Struggle leader Walid Jumblatt said on Monday that the Progressive Socialist Party will do its utmost to finance the ranks and series scale before “the file becomes a ‘mirage’ that drowns the Lebanese state in a pool of deficits and injustice.”

In his weekly interview with Al-Liwaa newspaper, Jumblatt called for annulling the raise of the Lebanese officials’ salaries. He also suggested reducing it by 50% to set a better example for the citizens.

Jumblatt added that some security apparatuses are requesting huge amounts for their budgets describing this act as “shameful and unrealizable”. He also stressed that the endorsement of these budgets will cause chaos between the parties.

The Lebanese MP also called for commencing administrative reform and transforming it into a sustainable development process.
