Diab: There is an absolute necessity for a new effective government to be formed

Caretaker Prime Minister Hassan Diab issued the following statement on Thursday:

Under the circumstances Lebanon is currently going through, at all social, financial, and health levels, there is an absolute necessity for a new effective government to be formed, a government capable of dealing with all those challenges, and especially with the repercussions of the disaster that struck the Beirut Port.

Time should not be wasted with the exceptional circumstances our country is facing. What is now required is for a new government to be formed in order to take the required decisions in addressing all major crises: the reconstruction works in Beirut, the fight against COVID-19, the social crisis, the reforms workshop that our government had launched (and implemented a number of them), and the International Monetary Fund negotiation dossier.
