Mufti Qabbani calls for a just electoral law

The Grand Mufti Sheikh Mohammad Rashid Qabbani urged on Friday all MPs to choose an electoral law that will be "just for all parties and regions."

"We demand a law that assures an adequate representation of the Lebanese people, a law that doesn’t give the power to one party over another," he said.

Commenting on the salaries and ranks scale, the Mufti stated that it is a "valid right for the Lebanese working class."

"We are prohibiting the people from demonstrating, however we demand that cabinet endorse and finance the scale as soon as possible without increasing taxes," he added.
