US sources to LBCI: Agreement envisions gradual de-escalation toward permanent ceasefire

U.S. sources told LBCI that the newly announced framework is designed to begin with a phase of de-escalation and gradually lead to a comprehensive and permanent ceasefire between Lebanon and Israel.

According to the sources, the implementation process would start with an Israeli military withdrawal from a designated pilot area where the Lebanese Army would deploy and assume control. The move is intended to serve as the first practical step in a broader implementation mechanism aimed at consolidating stability and expanding state authority on the ground.

The sources described the pilot zone as the starting point for a phased process that would eventually pave the way toward a lasting cessation of hostilities and the implementation of the agreement's broader provisions.
