Zgheib: Turkey must finalize the Lebanese abductees in Syria's case

Sheikh Abbas Zgheib, who has been tasked by the Higher Islamic Shiite Council to follow up the case of the abducted Lebanese in Syria, said that the Turkish state’s sovereignty is being violated by the Free Syrian Army, urging the Turkish government to take action and finalize the case of the Lebanese abductees.

Zgheib added that this file could have a negative influence on the Turkish-Lebanese relations if the abductees won't return.

The 11 Lebanese pilgrims were kidnapped on their way back from Iran by Syrian insurgents hoping to use them for a prisoner swap on the 20th of May.

Turkey was negotiating with the Syrian militants to release them, and managed to release 2 of them. The 9 others remain detained.
