LAF participates in expanded maneuvers in Cyprus
The Lebanese Army Naval and Air Forces took part in expanded maneuvers in Cyprus with the participation of several armed forces units from Cyprus, UK, France, Germany and Greece.

The maneuvers took place in Larnaca and Nicosia and were supervised by high ranking army commanders.

The first stage included air and sea search and rescue operations for a sinking ship with 150 passengers and passenger airplane crashing 12 miles into the sea, as well as evacuation of foreign nationals from the sea.

The second stage included maritime piracy combat operations, saving hostages from ships and buses during terrorist acts and evacuation of citizens from a collapsed building.

The troops also trained for cleaning the sea from oil and toxic substances.
