March 14 Secretariat: Civil peace depends on STL

March 14 General Secretariat said that the Special Tribunal for Lebanon (STL) is the foundation of civil peace and a capable state. “The cabinet headed by PM Najib Mikati encompasses ministers from Hezbollah, until now accused of being behind the series of assassinations that Lebanon witnessed during the past few years.      

“It would be better for Mikati to hand the accused over to justice”, the Secretariat said.   

Following its weekly meeting, the Secretariat stressed the necessity to respect international resolutions, mainly resolutions 1701 and 1757, as well as the STL funding by virtue of a ministerial law.   

The Secretariat warned against the transformation of Lebanon’s financial, economic and banking markets into a financial support for a Syrian regime that is resorting to oppression, terrorism, torture and murder against its own people whose only crime is their hunger for life.   

The Secretariat refused the statement made by a Hezbollah official who claimed that weapons are vital for coexistence, adding “these weapons are illegitimate, illegal, and pose a permanent threat on the Lebanese”.
