Several officials take to Achrafieh, check on the conditions of the wounded

Minister of Interior and Municipalities Marwan Charbel, and the Minister of Telecommunications Nicolas Sehnaoui checked on Monday the damage caused by Ashrafieh's explosion.

The two Ministers were accompanied by Beirut's Governor Nassif Qalloush, Head of Beirut's Municipality Bilal Hamad, and Brigadier Abdo Berbari from the Interior and Municipalities Ministry's committee. Ibrahim Bashir the head of the Higher Relief Commission was also present.

Minister Charbel described the tour as "humanitarian" aiming at alleviating the suffering of those affected by the explosion through providing the necessary assistance in addition to aids brought forth by the Beirut Municipality and the HRC.

Minister Charbel pointed out that removing the debris from Ibrahim's Street where the explosion took place will not start before surveying the crime scene.

"Strict security measures are being taken in this region to preserve the citizens' properties," the Minister added.

For his part, Minister Nicolas Sehnaoui considered that such measures respond to the concerns of the currently homeless families.

He also stressed on the importance of taking rapid action, enabling families to gather their essential needs as well as sealing the facades of the buildings and shops to prevent leakage during winter.

It is worth mentioning that Sehanoui provided hotels to accommodate those affected over a period of 10 days.

As for the Minister of Public Health Ali Hassan Khalil, he also followed up on the conditions of the injured with the administration departments of Hotel Dieu, St. George, Rizk, and the Lebanese Canadian Hospital.

Khalil asked the Ministry of Health Doctors in the aforementioned hospitals to follow up in detail the cases of the injured persons and provide maximum assistance.

The Minister also followed up the cases of the wounded who were transferred to hospitals in the North and Beirut due to the recent events recorded in the past few hours.
