March 14: Hassan’s assassination proves that Assad’s regime is exploiting Lebanon

The March 14 General Secretariat announced on Wednesday that the assassination of Major General Wissam Hassan in a crowded neighborhood in Achrafieh proves that Assad’s regime is "exploiting Lebanon, in light of its threat to create a mainstream void." The Secretariat stressed that the crime will only strengthen its determination to fight for a free, independent and sovereign state.

March 14 held the current government responsible for "facilitating the plan of the Syrian regime," considering that it must be toppled in order to ward off risks.

The Secretariat stressed that it will continue its mission away from anarchy, stressing that the Lebanese people are capable of protecting the state’s project. “Our peaceful sit-in in Riyad El Solh Square is a modern and democratic mean to call for the government’s resignation.”

The Secretariat reiterated that March 14 will not participate in any dialogue prior to the cabinet's resignation.
