Watkins visits Achrafieh explosion site

The UN Deputy Special Coordinator for Lebanon Robert Watkins went on Saturday with the Director General of Civil Defense Brigadier General Raymond Khattar to the site of Achrafieh's explosion.

Watkins asked for taking more measures to help the victims and improve Lebanon's readiness to disasters and the ability to respond to emergencies.

Watkins pointed out that this explosion highlights the urgent need to develop a new legislation to establish disaster management agencies capable of covering preparedness and response issues.
