Sleiman: Dialogue is the route that fortifies our country from threats

Lebanese President Michel Sleiman stressed on Monday that dialogue remains the only way to find solutions to the current problems facing the country.

At the end of the Global Disarmament Week Sleiman said, "violence and the use of weapons for goals afar from defending the country do not solve any problems and in fact lead to a crisis similar to the one that happened recently."

The President pointed out that dialogue remains the safe route to "fortify the country from external threats and from Israel's violations to resolution 1701."

Sleiman called on all citizens to understand the current situation and the tough circumstances the country faces in order to shield Lebanon from negative repercussions and implications.

Furthermore, Minister of Interior Marwan Charbel briefed the President on the measures taken to control the security situation in addition to the stages reached in the preparation of the administrative decentralization draft.

Army Commander General Jean Kahwaji also briefed President Sleiman on the security situation especially pertaining to the North and on the borders with Syria.
