Marwan Al-Qassab’s death remains a mystery

According to circulating information, Lebanese citizen Marwan Al-Qassab was killed in a mysterious blast Sunday overnight in the city of Al Minieh – Akkar, with the incident’s circumstances remaining clandestine.

In this context, sources told LBCI that the investigations conducted by the security apparatuses showed that neither explosives nor a blast in a weapons factory were behind the death of Qassab.

The security apparatuses and the coroner stressed that the victim was killed due to a fragment that hit him in the chest.

The sources added that Qassab was killed while working in his lathe workshop. However, the source of the shrapnel is still unknown. The preliminary assumptions say that it came from the machine he was using or from a bullet he was customizing.

Qassab's family and Akkar MPs issued a statement in which they urged all media institutions to be very accurate while reporting such news, emphasizing that the incident is not related to the Syrian crisis.
