STL Pre-Trial Judge Fransen approves amendments to indictment

Pre-Trial Judge Daniel Fransen has confirmed the Prosecution's request to amend the indictment.

“A well-prepared trial... is the key to trial taking place under good conditions that doesn't go on forever or get bogged down Judge Fransen provided an overview of the steps that need to be taken by the Trial Chamber before trial starts in Ayyash et al case,” he said.

“The prosecution must also forward to the defense exculpatory documents, those that could be used to demonstrate the accused are innocent,” he added.
"We have to make sure that the prosecution has forwarded to the defense and to the victims... all documents it intends to produce at trial"

The STL will release over the next months a series of video question and answers addressing relevant issues about the Tribunal.

Changes to indictment include modification of list of victims of 14 Feb attack. It clarifies existing allegations & corrects minor mistakes. The new indictment does not include new names or charges and will not have an impact on the start of trial on 25 March 2013.

The Prosecution will now have to update the indictment, which was confirmed in June 2011.
