EDL: stealing electrical wires is an aggravating phenomenon

Électricité Du Liban (EDL) announced on Tuesday that the phenomenon of stealing electrical wires has become more significant in various Lebanese regions, whereby the total amount of copper wires stolen since April 2012 has reached around 62,293 kg.

EDL mentioned that it is following up on this issue with judicial and security authorities to raise lawsuits against perpetrators in order to take punitive measures against them.

The Organization alerted against the risk of further aggravations of this kind which may affect its ability to ensure alternative wires; therefore leading to the deprivation of citizens where wires are being stolen from electricity for long periods of time.
