The Cabinet approved on Wednesday the diplomatic appointments to public servants and other candidates.               

During the session, President Sleiman said that he neither went beyond the Constitution, nor did he close the door before any proposal, noting that "in case there was a will to change the government, the door is not closed."               

Sleiman hoped that the opposition reconsiders its position, "because no one can reject the dialogue or put it under any condition whatsoever."

The Cabinet convened at Baabda palace, presided over by President Michel Sleiman, in the presence of Prime Minister Najib Mikati and the ministers.           

The Cabinet has 90 items on its agenda, in addition to stringent matters, including diplomatic appointments.          

Before the session, President Michel Sleiman held a meeting with PM Mikati, where they broached the general situation.             

Speaking to media prior to Cabinet session, Social Affairs Minister Wael Abu Faour said that the meeting held between President Sleimanand MP Walid Jumblatt on Tuesday night came in the framework of consultations undertaken by the President.           

"We are open on a national unity government without falling into void," Abu Faour said, noting that the Bloc is not against discussing government alternatives to remove the country from the current crisis.                   

In turn, Interior and Municipalities Minister Marwan Charbel announced that Journalist Fida Itani arrived to Turkey.                 

For his part, Telecommunication Minister Nicholas Sehnaoui pointed out that there is no problem in principle over diplomatic appointments.
