Introduction to the evening news 01-11-2012

At 9:30 this evening, journalist Fidaa Itani is expected to arrive to Beirut on board Turkish Airlines’ flight number 826. Itani who was released by  the Aazaz rebels on Wednesday evening, crossed the Syrian-Turkish border before heading to Ankara, Istanbul and then Beirut.         

While the issue concerning the kidnap of Itani was resolved, the political crisis seems to remain, leading to the postponement of the Parliamentary session until further notice.           

Concerning the case of the assassination of Brig. Gen. Wissam Hassan, Judge Hatem Madi filed a lawsuit against unknown assailants, before referring the case to the investigative Judge Nabil Wehbe.                   

On the regional level, two mysterious explosions rocked Turkey and Saudi Arabia. The first resulted from a car bomb which exploded outside a military barracks in the Turkish port city of Iskenderun injuring several people. The second was the result of gas leakage, but the damages and the comments launched by the Saudis via Twitter doubted the official story of the explosion.
