Egyptian FM in Beirut, holding talks with Lebanese officials

Egyptian Foreign Minister Mohammad Kamel Amr arrived to Lebanon on Tuesday for a 2-day visit, where he met with the LF chief Samir Geagea in Maarab.

After the meeting, the FM said that the reason behind his visit is to express solidarity to the Lebanese people, stressing that his country will not interfere in the Lebanese political crisis since it is a local issue. "Egypt is keen on the interests of neighboring countries in light of changes overtaking the region," the Egyptian official said.

Amr later visited Speaker Nabih Berri who received him over for lunch. Following the meeting, Amr stated that the Lebanese parties should find a solution for the current crisis, stressing that "Egypt is ready to offer any possible help."

The minister also met with FPM leader Michel Aoun, Former Prime Minister Fouad Siniora, and Kataeb leader Amine Gemayel. He contacted MP Walid Jumblatt as well.

Amr will be visiting tomorrow Wednesday President Michel Sleiman and PM Najib Mikati.
