Joint US-French statement issued on Lebanon
A US-French statement was issued on Wednesday concerning talks on Lebanon.
The statement reads as follows:
On July 8, French Ambassador to Lebanon Anne Grillo and US American Ambassador to Lebanon Dorothy Shea held tripartite meetings with their counterparts in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to discuss the situation in Lebanon.

This initiative comes after tripartite meetings were held by US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian, and Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, which were held on June 29, on the sidelines of the G-20 summit, in Matera, Italy.
During the work visit, Ambassadors Grillo and Shea emphasized "the urgent need for a fully empowered government that is committed and able to implement reforms."
They also noted that "the French and US governments, as well as other partners who are adopting the same approach, continue to provide emergency assistance to the Lebanese people, including health, education and food support."
Ambassadors Grillo and Shea also stressed that "concrete actions taken by Lebanon's leaders to address decades of mismanagement and corruption will be critical to unlocking additional support from France, the United States, and regional and international partners."
