Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri presented the financial and economic situation, and the course of negotiations between the Lebanese government and the IMF with the Executive Director of the International Monetary Fund, representing the Arab Group in the Fund’s Board of Directors, Mahmoud Mohieldin.

That
in the presence of the first advisor to the Executive Director, Dr. Maya Choueiri, and the Fund’s advisor, Mira Marei.

Mohieldin left Ain al-Tineh without making a statement.

On another note, President Berri discussed with the Director General of Civil Defense General Raymond Khattar the conditions of the civil defense and the demands of volunteers.

Following the meeting, Khattar noted that the visit aimed to thank Berri for his permanent support for the Lebanese Civil Defense and its volunteers, especially amidst the latest events that make it difficult for the Civil Defense to accomplish the tasks it is assigned due to the shortage of equipment and supplies, as well as the situation of volunteers in light of the current financial and living conditions.

Khattar pointed out that Speaker Berri promised to follow up with the Minister of Finance on all these demands, specifically the issue of volunteers, to accelerate the completion of this file.
