LF chief Samir Geagea harshly criticizes Speaker Nabih Berri

LF Chief Samir Geagea held on Wednesday a televised press conference whereby he addressed the statements made by Speaker Nabih Berri whereby the latter asked whether it was a crime to call for a parliamentary session.

In his response, Geagea mockingly said, "it is no crime to hold parliament in light 'heinous crimes' in the country."

"Is it not a crime for political life to go on as usual with 6 slain MPs on the list and 2 who narrowly escaped death?" Geagea exclaimed. "With the continuous assassinations, political life in Lebanon is null," Geagea added.

The Lebanese Forces chief also asked: “How is it acceptable to hold meetings in light of all these assassinations targeting members of our bloc?” Geagea addressed the Speaker and questioned: “Do you not feel ‘ashamed’ for holding meetings with the “other” team which is legally accused of plotting criminal acts?”

House Speaker Nabih Berri had called for a Parliamentary session to be held on Tuesday November 27 to hear the speech of the Armenian President Serge Sarkissian.
