Ministry of Foreign Affairs wrote to the Ministry of Interior saying that it was not possible to hold elections for expatriates according to the modified deadlines for several reasons.
In this context, Interior Minister Bassam Mawlawi was surprised by this act and said "How could the foreign minister direct this letter (found below on amending the election date), knowing that this issue does not fall within his powers, and it would have been more useful for him to send it to the concerned authority."
Mawlawi said: "The Minister of Foreign Affairs informed me that he was unable to implement the law issued by the Parliament, and the Ministry of Interior is an executive authority and has no authority over the Ministry of Foreign Affairs."
