Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani affirmed on Monday during his meeting with President Michel Aoun in Doha that Qatar stands by Lebanon, and is ready to help it in all areas required for Lebanon's rise from the difficult situation it is going through, which have negatively affected the Lebanese in their daily lives.


From his end, President Aoun considered that the support Qatar provides Lebanon is exemplary and confirms the brotherly and cooperative relations between the two countries.

The Emir of Qatar pointed out that his country has always been and will always be by the side of the Lebanese people in everything they have gone through during the past years, and it is a deep-rooted historical relationship, and what Qatar offers Lebanon and the Lebanese is the least they can do.

Sheikh Tamim also praised "the role of the Lebanese in Qatar, and what they offer in their fields of work and specialization," stressing the permanent welcome to the Lebanese, whose number now exceeds 55 thousand people.

He pointed out his country's readiness to contribute and invest in Lebanon after implementing the appropriate laws for this, stressing the desire to work with Lebanon to overcome the current circumstances, and noting that he will send Qatari Foreign Minister Mohammed bin Abdul Rahman Al Thani to Beirut in the coming period, to continue discussing developments, and provide the necessary assistance to Lebanon.

Prince Tamim expressed his hope that the crisis between Lebanon and a number of Gulf countries will come to a near end.

In his turn, the President of the Republic welcomed any investment made by Qatar to implement development projects in Lebanon, where opportunities are numerous and varied.

He said, "efforts are currently underway to develop a program for economic advancement in the country that will be presented to the International Monetary Fund to launch a multi-faceted workshop that addresses the gaps that have brought the country to its current crises."

The discussion between President Aoun and Prince Tamim dealt with several topics, especially the reconstruction of Beirut Port, securing electric power and cooperation in the field of oil and gas, where it was decided that Minister Fayyad will hold a meeting with his Qatari counterpart to complete the discussion on the necessary detailed points.

President Aoun and Prince Tamim agreed that the relevant ministers in Lebanon and Qatar would hold meetings to discuss common issues of mutual interest in accordance with the agreements concluded between the two countries.
