Maronite Patriarch Bechara Boutros al-Rai praised on Friday during his meeting with the Armed Forces Commander General Joseph Aoun, the Lebanese Army’s efforts to preserve the security of the homeland and the citizens, and he praised the measures it takes to prevent all kinds of smuggling.
On the other hand, Patriarch al-Rai, during his meeting with French Ambassador Anne Grillo, reiterated his position on the parliamentary and presidential elections in terms of their inevitable completion without any question about their occurrence, stressing the need to seek free and fair elections.
He went on to stress the need for the government to return to its normal work, considering that it is unacceptable to put obstacles in front of it and to involve it in matters that have nothing to do with it and have no authority in it, such as the subject of Judge Bitar, which affects the national cohesion.
In turn, the French ambassador expressed her support for the patriarch's stances and affirmed France's steadfastness in its stances towards Lebanon.
