Mecanique shooting: corruption goes violently wrong
Gunshots rang out at the "mecanique" vehicle inspection center in Hadath after a clash erupted inside the center. Security Forces soon came to the scene to determine the circumstances of the incident.

A man hailing from Al Khatoun works illegally in the center as a “broker” and gets paid $50 for every car that passes the “mecanique” test. When one of his cars failed the test, he became enraged and assaulted the employees using his hands and sharp instruments, injuring an employee.

The fight did not stop there, in fact, the man called in for back-up from a man hailing from Al Mukdad whose arrival was marked by an outburst of gunfire that injured innocent bystanders.

The fight spread fear and panic amongst the employees and others present at the center. The employees closed down the "mecanique" vehicle inspection center and hid inside it refusing to continue business as usual without the protection of security forces.

It is worth noting that the center will close its doors Thursday and Friday.
