Maronite Bishops call on citizens to vote, exercise their constitutional right in accountability
Maronite Bishops said on Wednesday that the upcoming parliamentary elections must take place on time, adding that citizens must make a good choice while electing their representatives.

The bishops made their comments during their periodic meeting in Bkerke whereby they called on citizens for a high turnout in the upcoming polls in order to exercise their constitutional right in accountability.

In a statement, they called on those concerned to "take the plan of economic advancement and reform out of the political debate, in order to protect the good of the country and the people, to sign an agreement with the International Monetary Fund, and to allow the resumption of the financial and economic life cycle in these delicate circumstances, locally, regionally and internationally."

On another note, they expressed their joy at the announcement of His Holiness Pope Francis' visit to Lebanon next June,

While awaiting the announcement of the details of the official program of this visit, "they ask God to bless it and fulfill the wishes of His Holiness for the good of Lebanon and the Lebanese."
