Jumblatt addresses cabinet, calls for radical change

In his weekly address to Al Liwaa Newspaper, PSP leader Walid Jumblatt asked why the cabinet and the concerned authorities were "not assuming their responsibilities" concerning the file of the ranks and salaries pay scale, stressing that “instead of taking strict and bold measures against corruption, it looks like the cabinet will be taking arbitrary decisions that once endorsed could lead to catastrophic results on the environmental and urban levels.”

Jumblatt added that the cabinet had better take radical measures to finalize the public maritime properties’ file as well as the case of smuggling occurring in the Beirut port and airport.

Jumblatt then asked: “Why aren't the fiscal policies being reconsidered to ensure social justice?”

He also wondered why the electricity issue was not solved yet. “How is it acceptable that after 20 years since the end of the civil war, the Lebanese citizen still has to bear the problem of power outage?”

Finally, Jumblatt called on the cabinet to fully assume its responsibilities by taking radical steps to ensure reform.
