Aoun thanks Pope Francis for beatification of Father Leonard Oueis Melki, Father Touma Saleh

President Michel Aoun thanked Pope Francis on Saturday for granting a long-held Lebanese wish: the beatification of two honorable martyrs from Baabdat, Father Leonard Oueis Melki and Father Touma Saleh.

"This celebration confirms to the entire world that Lebanon remains at the center of the Church's concerns and will continue to be the homeland of holiness," Aoun said.

He also congratulated the Capuchin Congregation, of which the two beatified fathers belong, as well as the town of Baabdat, saying, "We ask for their intercession to carry Lebanon to the paths of resurrection."
