Huge fire at Nabatieh carpet factory extinguished
The huge fire at Kabalan carpet factory in the southern town of Zefta was extinguished on Sunday, forty-two hours after it first erupted.

Caretaker Minister of Labor Moustafa Bayram visited the carpet factory, and the civil defense firefighters managed to put it out, although the fire had caused millions of dollars in damages and the displacement of over 200 employees.

Bayram also met with owner of the factory Hussein Qabalan, whereby he informed him of the losses incurred by the factory, which is considered as one of the most important carpet factories in the Middle East.

The Minister then thanked the firefighting teams for their exceptional efforts given their limited capabilities.

“We thank God that there were no human casualties,” Bayram went on to say, adding that they will try to find jobs, even temporary and exceptional ones, until the factory returns to what it was.
