Beit Mery protesters gain political backing
The residents of Beit Mery and Ayn Saade gathered near the school of “Soeurs des Saints-Coeurs” where Electricité Du Liban is adamant to install high-voltage power lines.

The residents champion the installment of underground electric cables, denying any arising threat. They also based their rejection of high-voltage power lines upon credible studies that underline the possible threats and eco-damages arising from electromagnetic fields.

Some political forces are showing support for the protesters, denying that they are seeking political advantages through this support. They said, however, that they are supporting an ecological cause on the grounds that “prevention is better than cure”.
